Are you interested in providing one-on-one counseling at Watkins Jail?

We get request for one-on-one counseling at Watkins Jail, and currently we aren’t able to fulfill all of them. The guys really appreciate getting these visits, and they are rewarding for us volunteers. Why do they want a one-on-one visit? There are many reasons. They may be in a pod that doesn’t have Catholic services. Or they may want to talk more in depth about the faith, and their problems, than they can at the larger service.

Concert to Support The Kolbe Mission

It’s been a while since we’ve had a post on our Diocesan Jail Ministry website for Lower Buckeye Jail. Unfortunately, I don’t have any news for you about when we will be able to return to services at the jail. This post is to update you about the Kolbe Mission, the new Kolbe Mission website, and an upcoming concert to support the Kolbe Mission.

Angel’s Testimony

This post gives Angel’s Testimony. Angel was an inmate at LBJ who attended our Catholic religious service for about 1.5 years. Rick and I looked forward to seeing Angel. He always participated in our scripture discussions, and was passionate, but also respectful and courteous. There were time when he was down in the dumps, and very quiet, which was out of character for him. I would ask him “Are you OK – it’s not like you to be so quiet”. He would just laugh. But I knew from discussions that Angel had a tough life before his incarceration, and that he was dealing with his personal situation and problems.
